In the middle of the night comes the bard of dreams. His music soothes the bodies of those in his care, and his words evoke laughter and joy in their sleep.
In the stillness and calm of the absence of light, the automaton groans with whoosh and whir. The low rumble of fans venting heat into the open air, aiding the Master in keeping his charges in comfort to dream through the night.
Those who run on different clocks are mow alert. Their minds race in many directions while their bodies crave the comfort of the Master and his melodies. They try to combat their desires, but age and wisdom reveals that the Master is patient and untiring. He knows they will give up...eventually. The older they get the more they realiZe he will win, so fight their fleeting thoughts in an effort to shorten his wait.
As they lay their heads down to surrender, they force thoughts designed to focus their minds. These thoughts have been honed over the years until they know them by heart. They know this train of thought only has one destination...
into the arms of the Master until the morning comes again.

Four day weekend gone, it's back to work for three days. This morning was my first running mile trial. I made it .6 miles. Started too fast. Need to work on that. 13:30 at 1.2 miles. Both running and walking. If I can get my start correct, that will even out to about 10 mins. Works for me.
I thought it was going to be a long day with little to do, but our applications team never disappoints. I even stayed overtime trying to get a query to work.
Home again, I set up the level to get the room finished, but my mind was not in it. I was glad to get to ride with my wife and daughter to Academy to get out of the house. I PUT ON 36 WAIST PANTS, BUTTONED AND ZIPPED THEM!!!
That's serious joy to me, since I have been wearing 38s for the last 10 years. The running is paying off!

Happy Birthday Bill
Happy Birthday, my friend.
-----------------------------------
When you are troubled by what to do next, give it to God. That's what alll that religious leaders say, but their meaning is lost on those who already do not look too far outside themselves for answers.
The meaning is to give the suffering part of it to Him, but not to be idle expecting Him to hold your hand. Once the stress is gone, life is more clear. That clarity should allow you to see other opportunities, or at least see avenues within the directions you already have in mind.
The best thing to remember is "when you don't know what to do, do what is right, and do what is in front of you, but not necessarily what is right in front of you."
-----------------------------------
No matter how old you are, there is always someone older. My best friend turned 55 today. I still can't wrap my head around being my age, but I know I can't imagine 55.
Age isn't the part that worries me. It's growing past the difference between the limits of my mind's concept of what my body can do, and the reality of what my body can do.
It's finding those little things to fill my memory that were not there, and making them stick as they did in my youth.
It's increasing my exercise to tighten my skin and muscles, while not destroying my system that governs it.
Accomplishments: Two 5K runs, now up to 3.5 miles in practice. Pace down to 11:50 running / 13:56 jogging and walking.

I have lived here pretty much all my life, but have not been to this event. Our friends are late due to a wreck ahead of them on 35. Two minutes earlier from getting water at a convenience store and we might have been as well. The kids are playing soccer in the parking garage to pass the time.
